A striker signing, however, could also unexpectedly come to the fore next summer, especially if Joshua Zirkzee sees his future away from the club.

Etta Eyong admits Carlos Baleba and Premier League dream
Man Utd have been linked to Karl Etta Eyong for a while now, with the 22-year-old Levante striker fitting their youth-focused policy perfectly.
Furthermore, his physical qualities make him the perfect Premier League striker, potentially if he pans out, and as a Cameroon international, Bryan Mbeumo will be waiting for him at Old Trafford.
As it turns out, Etta Eyong wants more than just Mbeumo to be his teammate, as he spoke about his dream of playing in the Premier League, alongside Carlos Baleba.
Speaking on the podcast Market Madness, the Cameroonian striker said it’s his dream to play in the Premier League, welcoming the prospect of playing with Baleba for club and country.
He said: “For me, it’s a dream. For me, it’s a dream to play in the Premier League. Why not? But for the moment, I’ll stay focused right now where I am in Levante, but it’s in my head in the future to play in the Premier League, why not beside Baleba? It would be very good.”
Eyong’s “come and get me” plea shouldn’t be ignored
With nine goal contributions in 11 games, Etta Eyong is in the middle of his breakout season, and United will be watching closely.
Considering Baleba is almost nailed-on to move next summer, Eyong knows very well what he’s doing with these comments.

The Cameroonian contingent at Old Trafford, plus United’s links to Baleba, make it clear that this is a “come and get me” plea by the striker for United.
If he keeps up this level of form and goalscoring for the whole season, United should explore a move for him, especially if Zirkzee chooses to leave permanently.
Ruben Amorim’s verdict on Zirkzee is that he’s not a natural striker in a traditional sense, and Eyong is the polar opposite of that profile.
