Manchester United remain interested in Newcastle United star Sandro Tonali but his asking price has become a hurdle for Ineos.

A £38 million deal for Ederson kick-started Manchester United’s midfield rebuild, but now Ineos are scouring the market for a marquee signing.

Manchester City have bid £121m for Elliot Anderson, while West Ham want £85m for Mateus Fernandes.

Sandro Tonali is open to joining United this summer, but the Italy international will also come at a steep price.

Would YOU rather Man United pay £85m for Mateus Fernandes or £125m for Elliot Anderson?

Man Utd set budget for Sandro Tonali transfer

It has been made clear that Newcastle want £100m for Tonali in order to sell him this summer, and he has a contract at St James’ Park until 2029.

According to Flashscore, United remain interested in Sandro Tonali as a midfield option this summer, but Ineos are only willing to pay £70m for his signature.

United are currently £30m short of Newcastle’s asking price, so any talks for Tonali could be drawn out over the summer.

Ineos also feel that Anderson and Fernandes are being overpriced by Nottingham Forest and West Ham respectively.

However, the report from above adds that Newcastle are aware that Tonali wants a new challenge, but that they don’t want to sell to a domestic rival.
