Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has spoken out about his former club potentially losing Sandro Tonali to Manchester United.
Manchester United have been linked to Sandro Tonali as one option to spearhead the midfield rebuild this summer.
Tonali’s agent has hinted at a summer move, and with Newcastle United missing out on European football, an exit seems even more likely.
However, Tonali’s price tag is significant, and Newcastle have already sold Anthony Gordon to Barcelona and other stars like Lewis Hall and Bruno Guimaraes are also linked with an exit.

Alan Shearer accepts Sandro Tonali could join Man Utd
Alan Shearer snubbed a move to United, but he accepts that one of his favourite Newcastle players might make the move he never did.
As quoted by Chronicle Live, Alan Shearer said: “Tonali, on the going to Man United rumours, I guess it all depends on if Man United get Elliott Anderson.
“Elliott Anderson would be their number one target, both City and Man United, that wouldn’t be a surprise to me.
“Very much like the Gordon situation, if he makes it clear that he wants to leave, then you have to say, okay, we accept that, we get the best possible price for you and move on.
“I would like to see him stay at Newcastle, because I think there’s a real talent there, and I think he links really well with Bruno, but I don’t know his or the club’s situation.
“It might work for the club selling him. It might, depending on what their recruitment is, if they’ve got someone to come in who they believe in 12 or 18 months will be better, and they can go again.
“He is on a long-term contract, and we did look after him and protect him when he got done with all those charges, but it might be best for both parties. If they’re getting a huge figure like £90m, then it might be best. If Newcastle are selling Gordon for £70m and Anderson’s going for over £100m, then it would take an awful amount of money to get him out of Newcastle.”

Man Utd move relies on Sandro Tonali asking to leave
As Shearer suggests, Tonali joining United only seems realistic if the Italian pushes to leave St James’ Park.
Newcastle seem to be heading for a squad overhaul of their own with several star players leaving, but they will stay stubborn with their price tag unless Tonali pushes to leave.
Tonali is open to joining United this summer, but Ineos will need a clear signal that he wants to leave Tyneside and make the move to Old Trafford.
Ineos also have alternative options with a £150m budget to spend on midfielders. Elliot Anderson is the top pick, while Aurelien Tchouameni is also highly rated at Old Trafford.
