Although it looks like Danilo is drifting from Botafogo’s plans, the 25-year-old has been selected in Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil squad for the 2026 World Cup.
Danilo was selected ahead of Ederson, who has been linked with a move from Atalanta to United, and he has plenty of Premier League experience following a stint at Nottingham Forest, where he made 50 Premier League appearances.
United were linked with Danilo during his time at Forest, after joining the club in 2023, when Erik ten Hag was in charge of the team.
According to ESPN Brazil, United made fresh enquiries over the past week as they continue looking at Danilo as a potential long-term replacement for Casemiro.
The report doesn’t state whether there have been formal negotiations or a bid, but contact has been made.
Botafogo will hope that the World Cup will drive Danilo’s market value.
