Man Utd outcast Jadon Sancho reportedly nearing Borussia Dortmund return

Manchester United outcast Jadon Sancho appears to be closing in on a loan return to former club Borussia Dortmund.

The January transfer window is upon us and one situation we are expecting to be resolved is the future of Jadon Sancho.

The United winger hasn’t played a single game since August having been through a rather public fall-out with boss Erik ten Hag.

Sancho wasn’t in the squad to face Arsenal in September and hasn’t been seen in a United shirt ever since.

A departure this month is an absolute must with Sancho’s situation not exactly helping anybody around Old Trafford or Carrington – and he may now return to a former club.

Borussia Dortmund swoop for Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho

United paid £73million to sign Sancho from Borussia Dortmund back in 2021, bringing an end to a lengthy pursuit.

Sancho hit 50 goals and 64 assists in 137 games for Dortmund but United haven’t seen anything like that kind of productivity.

Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg now reports that Dortmund are ‘actively working’ to take Sancho on loan.

Plettenberg claims that talks over a six-month loan deal are now underway and Sancho is keen to make the move happen.

Bild’s Christian Falk goes a step further, claiming that the talks are ‘nearing completion’ and Sancho is expected to fly out to Dortmund’s training camp in Marbella this week.

Falk believes that the deal will see Dortmund pay a loan fee and a contribution to his wages, which United will seemingly accept in order to get Sancho out of the club.

Whether this could lead to a permanent move in the summer is unclear but it sounds like Sancho is close to securing a temporary exit from his United hell.

West Ham United were unsure about Sancho deal

This expected return to Dortmund comes amid reports surrounding interest from West Ham United.

The Daily Mail claim that West Ham are keen on Sancho but boss David Moyes isn’t entirely convinced.

Former United manager Moyes allegedly wasn’t too interested in taking Sancho on loan given his hefty wages and the contribution West Ham would have had to make.

West Ham head of recruitment Rob Newman previously worked as a scout at Manchester City during Sancho’s time there and may have driven the interest.

Moyes seemingly wasn’t convinced though, refusing to replicate the 2021 move which saw Jesse Lingard hit top form in East London.

Rather than head to the capital, Sancho is now seemingly set for a return to the Bundesliga – and all at United will be desperate to see him shine and let his football do the talking.
