Manchester United have a clear midfield plan this summer with two or three big signings expected. Among the targets is Ayyoub Bouaddi.
This summer, Manchester United have big plans in the transfer window.
In particular, the midfield department will have ‘open heart surgery’, in the now infamous words of Ralf Rangnick, with a list of top-class options being mulled over for a signing.
United are looking at several midfielders, among them Ayyoub Bouaddi of Lille.
Bouaddi would be one for the future if signed by United, not necessarily looked at as ready to start, but perfect as that second midfield addition to rotate with Kobbie Mainoo and someone like Aurelien Tchouameni.

Kobbie Mainoo’s new contract is OFFICIAL – let’s hear your instant reaction!!!

Manchester United accelerate efforts for Ayyoub Bouaddi
Bouaddi would be a very exciting signing, and the rumours refuse to go away.
According to French journalist Abdellah Boulma, Bouaddi remains high on United’s wishlist.
He claims that United are watching Bouaddi, and have recently ramped up efforts to sign the 18-year-old midfielder.
United plan to meet with Bouaddi’s entourage, and have considered enlisting the help of Sir Alex Ferguson in the race for his signature this summer.
This move was unsuccessful on other occasions, like with Jude Bellingham, and Bouaddi was five years old when Sir Alex retired, which makes us wonder how impactful the pitch would be.
Arsenal and Bayern are also keen, with PSG having a long-standing interest, with the French wonderkid expected to cost between £60m and £80m.
It was reported in March that United would need to pay more than the Leny Yoro fee, and it appears it will need to be a lot more.
United scouts watched Bouaddi during 2024/25, and now it appears a deal is on the cards this summer.
Which of these players do you want to see Man Utd SIGN in 2026?
The following names have been suggested by fans on TalkingPoints…
Manchester United could have two secret advantages in Bouaddi race
Bouaddi to PSG feels inevitable given their ability to hoover up French talent, but United are in with a chance.
This is because United have Leny Yoro, who made the Lille to Old Trafford move two years ago, and so would know the midfielder and could put in a good word.
Yoro is also Bouaddi’s France U21 teammate, and so United should be using this contact.
But another advantage could arrive if United are able to sign Aurelien Tchouameni, who is likely Bouaddi’s current midfield idol, given he is likely his eventual replacement in the French national team.
Having a French contingent at the team could aid United’s chances over Bouaddi, and help him when he arrives.
