Manchester United have just been presented with a real chance to pick up another bargain this summer.
Sometimes a player becomes available and it is simply too good to refuse. This was the case earlier this summer when Manchester United were presented with the chance to sign Leny Yoro from Lille.
The Athletic reported at the time that in Old Trafford, this was seen as being a ‘unique market opportunity’ by United.
Erik ten Hag has already been handed four new players by Ineos, with the double arrival of Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich being the latest.
But the need for a midfielder remains, and in this hunt, United have just been presented with an opportunity to take advantage of the market by poaching one of the biggest talents on the books at Stamford Bridge.

Manchester United should tempt Chelsea for Lesley Ugochukwu
Speaking of unique market opportunities, Chelsea may have just presented Ineos with a coup too good to turn down this summer in the bid to sign a new midfielder.
The recent transfer activity of Chelsea was always likely to lead to situations like this, where they have to let talented players go, to satisfy financial rules and to allow their impulsive but free-spending owner to continue chucking money at the problem he has created.
Now according to The Athletic, Chelsea could be forced into selling 20-year-old midfield talent Lesley Ugochukwu this summer, just 12 months on from his arrival for the exact reasons we mentioned above.
Ugochukwu was expected to depart on loan it is reported, but he remains at Cobham where he is now being considered for a permanent exit. A sale is however unlikely to yield Chelsea a profit of the £23.5m they spent to sign him from Rennes.
Therefore, for a potential fee of around £23m, United could have little choice but to take advantage and raid Chelsea in a move which could solve the midfield conundrum for years to come.
What would Ugochukwu bring to United?
The talented midfielder was incredibly highly rated before his move to Chelsea, and it would be a smart move to snatch him up this summer given he could potentially be the fix United are looking for in midfield.
Ugochukwu is said to have been shaped as a player by John Mikel Obi and Claude Makalele, according to Chelsea’s official profile of him. As a player, he is strong physically and also thrives on the ball with confidence in his decision-making along with understanding the game of football very well.
He is a real presence and would be well suited to a defensive midfield role – possibly even alongside Kobbie Mainoo – although he still lacks awareness out-of-possession and would definitely be a project given he is yet far from consistent.
Signing a talent like Ugochukwu would be a phenomenal coup though, and it represents little risk when compared with the possible upside to the deal for United. Right now, a move has not been rumoured but it is one which could come out of nowhere and very quickly.
