Man Utd show interest in Joao Gomes
Everything was agreed for Joao Gomes to sign for Atletico Madrid from Wolves after the latter suffered relegation from the Premier League.
Although Gomes was linked with United in the final months of the 2025/26 season, his move to Atletico Madrid looked set in stone.
It is understood that Gomes’ move to Atletico Madrid collapsed because Jorge Mendes had planned to bring Bernardo Silva to the club before taking him to their rivals, Real Madrid.
As a result, Atleti don’t want to do business with Mendes.
According to Globo, United and Liverpool have enquired about Gomes since his move to Atleti collapsed, with Wolves previously happy to accept a deal worth approximately £38.34m.
The former Flamengo star, 25, has made 130 appearances since joining Wolves in 2023.
It will be interesting to see how this story develops over the coming days. United will certainly know that Gomes has Premier League experience.

Rather than sit in silence after his move to Atletico Madrid fell through, Gomes has shared his feelings on the social media network X.
Gomes wrote: “I am absolutely certain that God has the best in store for me.”
While there may be a part of Gomes disappointed not to be joining Atletico Madrid this summer, Mendes could make his client very happy if he secures a move to an even bigger club.
After all, it doesn’t get any bigger than United.
