Manchester United legend David de Gea could receive a fresh approach from a Serie A club that were previously interested in signing him, according to reports in Italy.
David de Gea has been a free agent since the end of the 2022-23 Premier League season after his contract with Manchester United expired.
The 33-year-old former United star lifted the Premier League Golden Glove award for the second time in his final season at Old Trafford.
De Gea had been keen to extend his stay at the Red Devils and talks had begun over a possible extension to his United deal.
However, a new contract failed to materialise and De Gea became a free agent in 2023 after 12 seasons with the Red Devils.
The United legend had been a mainstay in the first team at Old Trafford after Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement, having been signed from Atletico Madrid in 2011.

De Gea could receive new transfer offer
David de Gea lifted a Premier League title, a Europa League, an FA Cup and two League Cups with Manchester United before his departure from the club.
The former United No 1, who made 545 appearances for the Red Devils, has remained a free agent since his time at United came to an end.
According to reports, De Gea had attracted interest from two clubs in Italy and Serie A side Genoa had ‘held talks’ with the Spaniard.
But Genoa were unable to reach an agreement over personal terms with the United legend, who had also been linked with Serie A outfit Fiorentina.
Fiorentina were keen to land De Gea and had made an ‘approach’ for the player, only to see his wage demands as an ‘unacceptable’ request.
Journalist Alfredo Pedulla has now claimed that Fiorentina are ‘not giving up’ on a move for the former Spain international.
He reported that the Serie A side would meet again with the entourage of De Gea and hope to rekindle talks over a possible move to Fiorentina.
Man Utd legend De Gea ‘open to Serie A’
According to Alfredo Pedulla, former United star De Gea has received ‘another couple of proposals’ amid talks with Genoa and Fiorentina cooling down.
However, the Italian reporter added that De Gea would ‘appreciate the possibility’ of playing in Serie A in a bid to kickstart his club career.
De Gea has actively teased fans on social media with various training clips during his time as a free agent.
The United legend has attracted interest from clubs around the world, including from his native homeland of Spain, England and Saudi Arabia’s Saudi Pro League.
