There was a point in May when Manchester United felt likely to sign Aurelien Tchouameni, with Real Madrid in turmoil.
This was following Tchouameni’s falling out with Federico Valverde behind the scenes, which saw the pair in a physical altercation.
But Florentino Perez has never been keen to sell Tchouameni, although with the arrival of Jose Mourinho sees the legendary Portuguese manager taking control, and he will have to make a decision over the Frenchman.

Talk of Tchouameni joining United has quietened down a little since the season ended. There has been a suggestion that United wouldn’t be able to afford Tchouameni’s wages.
But he remains on the list for United this summer, and now Mourinho’s stance has been made clear.
According to Spanish journalist Ramon Alvarez de Mon, a deal isn’t completely off the table.
This is because Mourinho doesn’t consider Tchouameni to be untouchable within Madrid, in the way he views Jude Bellingham and Federico Valverde.
While not making a move feel completely likely, it does indicate that Mourinho wouldn’t be opposed to selling and bringing a new midfielder in this summer.

While not considered in that bracket by Mourinho right now, there is a good chance that by the time the World Cup ends on the 19th of July, he may have different thoughts.
France could go all the way this summer, and if they do, then Tchouameni will have played a key role in midfield.
If Tchouameni has a brilliant summer, there is no chance Mourinho ignores that to sell him anyway and he would instead have played himself into the untouchable bracket.
A lot would need to happen for United to have a chance at Tchouameni, and as of now, we don’t see most of it happening.
