Man Utd end pursuit for Emiliano Martinez, amid deal for ‘best’ goalkeeper on the market

Manchester United have been very busy in the transfer market this summer, with over £200 million spent on new signings.

After adding four new signings to Ruben Amorim’s squad, such as Bryan Mbeumo, earlier this summer, Manchester United have not stopped there.

It has been clear since the beginning of the season that Amorim was lacking confidence in his goalkeeper. Andre Onana has been dropped from his starting role in the team, but Altay Bayindir has committed multiple howlers when given chances in the team.

United fans would also like to see a new midfielder brought in, but time is running out.

There was a sense of relief this morning after United agreed on a deal with Royal Antwerp for highly-rated goalkeeper Senne Lammens.

The imminent arrival of Lammens will come as bad news for another Premier League goalkeeper.

Emiliano Martinez misses chance to join Man Utd

United went into deadline day being heavily linked with two goalkeepers.

Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez has been a United target all summer, but the Argentine World Cup winner won’t be moving to Old Trafford anytime soon.

Lammens, 23, has yet to earn an international cap with Belgium’s national team, but he will soon compete for a starting role in Amorim’s team.

Many United fans wanted Lammens over Martinez, and they’ve got their wish…

BBC Sport reporter Simon Stone issued an update on X, formerly known as Twitter, revealing that United will not be pursuing their interest in Martinez.

Martinez has not played for Villa this season, so it remains to be seen if he will be reintegrated into Unai Emery’s team.

Senne Lammens regarded ‘best’ goalkeeper on the market

Although Lammens is lacking experience at the top level, United are convinced the Belgian will be an improvement on Onana and Bayindir.

The young stopper will now compete for a place in the team with Onana and Bayindir.

Lammens could make his United debut in the Manchester derby later this month, once the September international break comes to an end.

Daily Mail reporter Nathan Salt also issued an update on X, stating that United insiders believe Lammens is the best available goalkeeper on the market.
