Man Utd could now offer £50m player in Michael Olise swap deal

Manchester United continue to be linked with Crystal Palace wide man Michael Olise, this time in a potential swap for Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Big spending is unlikely to come from United this month and some fans may already be excited about some summer signings.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe will soon have his 25% investment into United ratified and he will be looking to conduct a thorough overview of the situation at Old Trafford.

There have been some early indications of Ratcliffe’s plans as reports in December indicated that Ratcliffe would focus on signing homegrown players.

No names were given but one top target appears to be emerging – Crystal Palace wide man Michael Olise.

Manchester United linked with Michael Olise swap

Reports just a few days ago suggested that Ineos and Ratcliffe have made Palace winger Olise one of their first targets for the summer.

Palace are unwilling to sell in January but he does have a release clause which can be activated at the end of the season.

Yet rather than pay that fixed fee, United could try and get creative by offering a part-exchange deal to Palace.

The Daily Star report that United may offer up defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Palace with Olise coming the other way.

United are aware of Palace’s interest in re-signing Wan-Bissaka, nearly five years since he left Selhurst Park for Old Trafford in a £50million move.

The hope is that United can bring negotiate the cash value down by including Wan-Bissaka in a move, paving the way for his return to the Eagles.

Whether Wan-Bissaka would be keen is unclear but United are allegedly willing to think outside of the box in an attempt to land Olise.

United’s right back situation continues to baffle

Wan-Bissaka had a one-year option on his contract triggered just days ago, ensuring that he can’t walk away from the club for free at the end of the season.

Whilst that deal ties Wan-Bissaka down until 2025, it seems that United would still be willing to let him go if the deal was right.

Fellow right back Diogo Dalot only signed a new deal last year, so moving on from him in 2024 would be a surprise.

Wan-Bissaka and Dalot have been battling it out for years now and neither have really pulled themselves clear as the obvious first-choice right back for United.

Many fans would probably like to see both players moved on and a completely fresh start at right back, but that seems unlikely.

Activating that contract option does present the possibility of United being unable to move on from Wan-Bissaka and therefore unable to bring in another right back.

United may now look to clear up the situation by trying to exchange Wan-Bissaka for Olise – and then start the hunt for another right back.
