Man United set to lose academy starlet to Bundesliga side permanently, medical is booked

Manchester United now look set to lose promising attacking midfielder Isak Hansen-Aaroen this month, according to reports.

Isak Hansen-Aaroen, the Norwegian midfielder, has not had a sniff of first-team action for Manchester United this campaign this is after impressing in pre-season including a superb assist for Joe Hugill’s goal.

Since the FA Cup third-round game against Wigan Athletic, there had been murmurings of discontent from the 19-year-old with reports stating he wanted to leave Old Trafford sooner rather than later.

A fresh report detailed yesterday that Bundesliga side Werder Bremen were keen on the Norwegian midfielder and it now looks like these talks have progressed.

Werder Bremen deal ‘close’

According to a post on X from German journalist Florian Plettenberg, the deal to take the Norwegian midfielder to the Bundesliga is progressing with there now being hope a deal can be finalised today.

The United attacking midfielder is yet to make his first-team debut for the Red Devils and if there was any time for the Norwegian to make his debut for the club it looked like the FA Cup was the only time for this to happen but this wasn’t the case.

The Norway U21 international’s contract lasts until the end of this season and Plettenberg hasn’t specified the type [loan or permanent deal] of operation Werder Bremen are aiming for.

However, another report, this time from Norwegian outlet TV2, claims that the deal will in fact be a permanent transfer with his medical being booked for today.

Hansen-Aaroen sale part of wider problem

Not every academy player will make it at United but the reality is that the Norwegian was reportedly part of the category A players from their academy, which means he would be ready to start a big game for the Red Devils.

Why he hasn’t been given more game time is unclear but it is a rather concerning development as multiple academy players have moved on from the club.

Ten Hag at Ajax was a manager who was known for bringing through a raft of academy players but bar Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho, this has not happened.

To get the Red Devils hierarchy back on side with the Dutchman, he has to start giving these talented academy players their chance but he is just not doing this at this moment in time.
