Manchester United reportedly sent a scout to watch FC Porto take on Gil Vicente last weekend with an FC Porto player reportedly being watched.
According to Sunday’s newspaper edition of A Bola, there were scouts attending the game from some of Europe’s top clubs and United had a representative there.
Porto won 2-1 against Gil Vicente with Ivan Jaime and Eustaquio with the goals for the Portuguese giants with Depu scoring for Vicente.
It doesn’t say who United were scouting during the game but the Portuguese outlet seems to imply it could well be Diogo Costa, but that seems very unlikely due to Andre Onana’s position as the firm number one.
Costa was heavily linked with United before Erik ten Hag’s side decided on Onana as the new goalkeeper at Old Trafford.

Who could Manchester United have scouted
As the Portuguese report doesn’t say who United were scouting, a bit of deduction may well be needed to work out who the Red Devils were watching.
The report says that the scout was there ahead of the January transfer window, rather than the summer transfer window and that may well leave one name in the reckoning.
Mehdi Taremi, 31, may well be the option that the Old Trafford scouts were assessing and the Iranian striker represents an interesting type of striker for United.
Taremi’s profile
The tall and powerful striker would certainly represent an interesting option in the attack for the Red Devils and could offer something different to the attackers already at the club.
The forward seemed on the verge of moving to AC Milan in the summer but, according to the same report, the Italian side offered the forward less than what he was earning in Portugal.
The striker has just a year left on his contract with the Portuguese side and, in January, the forward will be able to speak to clubs outside of Portugal.
Taremi would certainly be a cheaper option too so it remains to be seen if the interest will be formalized into an offer come January.
