Manchester United are one of three clubs who are chasing Lille pair Leny Yoro and Tiago Santos, according to reports.

Defensive reinforcements look to be one of the priorities for Manchester United next summer with Raphael Varane’s future at Old Trafford looking uncertain.

Harry Maguire has done very well for United this season and the English defender now looks to be one of the first names on the team sheet for Erik ten Hag.

However, Lisandro Martinez remains out with an injury and could be back soon. A partner for the Argentine has been targeted and two new names have surfaced.

Yoro and Santos linked

According to a report from TeamTALK, United are one of several sides keen on Leny Yoro and Tiago Santos and could be ready to make a move for the pair next summer.

Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are the other sides who are believed to be keen on the pair from the French giants, who boast one of the youngest starting lineups in the league.

Yoro, 18, plays at centre-back and has started 12 games in Ligue 1 this season. The 6ft 3in defender has also been playing in the Europa Conference League for Lille. He has been capped by France’s Under-21 side.

As for Santos, who is a 21-year-old right-back, he has made 11 appearances for the French side and has also been capped at under-21 level for Portugal.

Yoro is reportedly the defender who is attracting slightly more interest than Santos due to his physical and technical level at such a young age.

Lille sit fourth in Ligue 1 and are currently on track to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Yoro could be cheaper alternative to Silva

It is unclear how much the French side would want for Yoro if he is to be a genuine target for United but they surely will not demand as much as SL Benfica will for Antonio Silva.

Silva, according to Florian Plettenberg, is United’s top target but will cost around £86 million to purchase as the Portuguese side will not sell for below his release clause.

Yoro, however, could be the cheaper alternative the club have been looking for and at just 18 years of age, the Frenchman would have plenty of room to grow and develop at Old Trafford.

With Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s links to Ligue 1, the hope will be that the Red Devils may have an ace up their sleeves if they do push for the teenage defender.
