An important Manchester United first-team star under Ruben Amorim reportedly had a clear-cut reason for wanting to remain at Old Trafford and turned down one club.
Ruben Amorim had placed several Manchester United first-team players on the chopping block in the summer transfer market amid his Red Devils squad revamp.
Multiple stars exited Old Trafford on loan, as Marcus Rashford signed for Barcelona, Rasmus Hojlund landed at Napoli and Jadon Sancho moved to Aston Villa.
However, United were also able to offload some talent from their books altogether with permanent transfers in the summer window before it closed on Monday.
Alejandro Garnacho left the Premier League club and signed for Chelsea in August, while Antony ended his exodus at United by sealing his transfer to Real Betis.

The main reason that Casemiro did not make an early exit from Man Utd this summer, despite his place under Ruben Amorim
Casemiro re-established himself under Ruben Amorim in the Manchester United starting XI after the former Sporting CP head coach arrived back in 2024.
The 33-year-old Brazilian midfielder impressed at times in the second half of the 2024-25 campaign, especially with his performances in the Europa League.
Casemiro had emerged on the radar of Al Nassr and the Brazil international could have reunited with United and Real Madrid legend Cristiano Ronaldo at the club.
However, Goal Brazil now reports that Casemiro was not interested in signing for Al Nassr and he ‘wanted to stay’ at Old Trafford and see out his United contract.
According to reports in Brazil, a ‘main justification’ for the ex-Real Madrid star to turn down the Saudi Pro League side’s interest was Brazil’s 2026 World Cup campaign.
Casemiro felt Man Utd and the Premier League would benefit his role at the 2026 World Cup with Brazil
Casemiro secured his place back in the Brazil national team after the arrival of former Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti as the five-time champions’ manager.
The United midfielder shared a close relationship with Carlo Ancelotti at Los Blancos and has already played a key part in the 66-year-old Italian coach’s plans for Brazil.
Goal claimed that Casemiro ‘refused’ the ‘approach’ from Al Nassr and the former Los Blancos ace is considered a ‘trusted man’ for Brazil manager Ancelotti.
It is believed that the five-time Champions League winner feels that playing for United puts him in the best place ahead of next summer’s World Cup tournament.
Casemiro, who is also viewed as a ‘key player’ for Amorim, is under contract with United until 2026 and the Red Devils are unlikely to offer him a new deal.
