Manchester United and England midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has now been identified as a key transfer target for one Premier League club, according to stunning reports.

Kobbie Mainoo established himself as a key Manchester United first-team player after his breakout 2023-24 campaign at Old Trafford under Erik ten Hag.

Erik ten Hag was sacked as United manager last October and Mainoo has continued to play an important role under Ruben Amorim, who arrived at Old Trafford in 2024.

However, Mainoo’s 2024-25 Premier League season with United was disrupted by injuries and the 20-year-old midfielder’s influence waned in the previous campaign.

The England international managed 37 appearances for the Red Devils in the 2024-25 campaign and Mainoo scored twice and picked up an assist for United.

Mainoo has been linked with Chelsea in the past and the United midfielder’s future remains uncertain ahead of his current contract with the club expiring in 2027.

Man Utd’s transfer position on England star Kobbie Mainoo amid new interest in the Premier League

Kobbie Mainoo’s current Manchester United wages are reportedly £25,000 per week and the Red Devils are in talks with the Three Lions international over a new deal.

United would benefit from a sale of Mainoo with the existing Premier League Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) due to him being an academy product.

However, it is believed that the Red Devils want to keep hold of Mainoo and it has been reported that his new wage demands would be around £180,000 per week.

According to GiveMeSport, United are ‘not looking to sell’ the youth academy and Mainoo remains an important part of Ruben Amorim’s project at Old Trafford.

The publication added that the Red Devils have ‘not been actively seeking a buyer,’ despite receiving ‘informal enquiries’ from one Premier League club over Mainoo.

Tottenham are interested in Man Utd midfielder Kobbie Mainoo and the major reason behind the Premier League club’s position

GiveMeSport claims that Tottenham have been ‘hoping’ to land Mainoo from United and that the Red Devils would be ‘tempted to entertain offers’ for the England star.

It has been reported that Spurs’ interest had been ‘upped’ after the Premier League club failed to sign Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest this summer.

Morgan Gibbs-White was set to have his medical at Tottenham earlier this month after Spurs triggered the reported £60m release clause that was in his contract.

However, the transfer fell through to Tottenham and the 25-year-old England international instead signed a new contract with Nottingham Forest last week.

According to reports, Tottenham have been ‘firm admirers’ of Chelsea-linked Mainoo and they like the midfielder’s ‘ability to play in an advanced role’ on the pitch.
