Matheus Cunha’s potential transfer from Wolves to Manchester United could see two renowned football agents go head-to-head over the deal.
Manchester United are close to an agreement for Matheus Cunha, with Ineos willing to pay his £62.5 million release clause this summer.
It is understood that United want to get the deal done quickly so that Ruben Amorim can prepare in the best way possible for the 2024/25 season.
After a turbulent campaign, with United sitting 14th in the Premier League and struggling to score goals, it won’t be a surprise to see attacking additions prioritised in the summer transfer market.

Rasmus Hojlund has managed just nine goals this season, which is two more than Joshua Zirkzee, leading to speculation that United want Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap as well as Cunha.
The rumours are bound to intensify between now and the end of the season, with more clubs expected to make their plans for the upcoming transfer window.

Jorge Mendes could influence Matheus Cunha transfer
Wolves have signed several players from Jorge Mendes’ agency Gestifute down the years.
Although Mendes has fewer players at Wolves than in previous years, the Portuguese super-agent retains a strong influence at the club due to his relationship with Wolves owners Fosun.
According to Trivela, Mendes will have involvement in Cunha’s potential move to Manchester United this summer, as could fellow agent Giuliano Bertolucci.
The report claims any deal for Cunha must be approved by Mendes due to his ‘great influence’ at Wolves. It is understood that Mendes plays a big role in club decisions since he has six clients signed up to the club.
Interestingly, Mendes doesn’t represent Cunha directly. That is the responsibility of Bertolucci, a renowned agent from Brazil. He reportedly had to negotiate with Mendes before Cunha joined Wolves in 2023.
Mendes has had many clients at Old Trafford down the years, including Cristiano Ronaldo.
Cunha one goal away from making Premier League history
Cunha has been a reliable force in front of goal for Wolves this season, which explains why United are planning a move for the versatile forward.
The Brazil international scored for Wolves last time out against Leicester City to score his 15th Premier League goal of the campaign.
Cunha’s latest goal equalled a Premier League record because no Brazilian has scored more goals in a single campaign.
The tally of 15 had only been achieved twice in the past, by former Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino and Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli, but Cunha has four games left to take the record for himself.
Cunha has proven himself since joining the Premier League. He warrants a big move this summer.
