Joshua Zirkzee shows support for Manchester United transfer target as Old Trafford connection a possibility

Manchester United are looking to snap up Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee but could yet end up bringing in one of his teammates too.

Less than a year since signing Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta, Manchester United are back in the market for another striker.

That isn’t a slight on Hojlund; the Dane showed more than enough potential in his first season at Old Trafford.

Hojlund certainly needs more help though and is just too raw to be expected to be United’s leading striker at this stage in his development.

Anthony Martial wasn’t a factor in the second half of the season anyway but his departure this summer means United simply have to sign another striker.

A number of names have been mentioned but United appear to be going back to the Italian market for a new striker.

Joshua Zirkzee sends message to Manchester United target Dan Ndoye

Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee is the man United are targeting.

Fabrizio Romano claims that United are accelerating a deal for Zirzkee and the Dutchman is now just ‘one step away’ from arriving at Old Trafford.

Zirkzee has a £34million release clause which could be activated, but reports suggest that United may look to negotiate a different structure.

The former Bayern Munich man is expected to arrive at United sooner or later, and one of his Bologna teammates could yet follow.

Reports in June suggested that United have made moves for Bologna winger Dan Ndoye.

The wide man has impressed for Switzerland at Euro 2024 and United are thought to be interested.

England dumped Switzerland out of Euro 2024 on penalties over the weekend and Ndoye has taken to Instagram to share an emotional message.

“Unfortunately, Euro 2024 has ended in a cruel way for us. But we will keep the positive for the future and we hope that this is only the beginning of a path full of success.”

“Really proud to be part of this special group. Thanks for the incredible support throughout the competition. We’ll come back stronger. We are Switzerland.” said Ndoye.

Netherlands striker Zirkzee is still in the competition – ironically coming up against England in the semi-finals – but took the time to console Ndoye.

‘Proud of you my bro’ said Zirkzee on Instagram, sending his support to Ndoye after a difficult few days having been eliminated in heartbreaking fashion.

Ndoye one to watch later in the window

Zirkzee and Ndoye have clearly struck up quite the bond in Italy and that connection could be rekindled at Old Trafford.

If Zirkzee does arrive at United, you can be sure that he would love to see Ndoye follow.

We think that this would be a move for later in the window though – if Ndoye hasn’t been snapped up by another club.

United are focusing on Zirkzee alongside new centre backs such as Matthijs de Ligt, Jarrad Branthwaite and Leny Yoro.

Another midfielder is also wanted with Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte the main name in the frame.

Going for another winger may only become a focus later in the window with situations over Jadon Sancho and Mason Greenwood needing to be resolved first.

If both Sancho and Greenwood can be moved on, United may well move to sign Ndoye – and look to bring that Zirkzee link-up to Manchester.
