Italian press claim Erik ten Hag summer signing is already wanted by Serie A trio, 2025 move possible

Of Manchester United’s five summer signings, few have started life at Old Trafford in ideal fashion.

A worst-ever start to a Premier League season for Manchester United has far from made adapting to the club easy for this season’s new players.

Manuel Ugarte was left out of United’s 0-0 draw with Aston Villa over the weekend. In a damning fact this game actually only saw Erik ten Hag start one of his five summer signings.

Noussair Mazraoui has been impressive since moving from Bayern Munich, but he is the only one who looks to be a good addition, as of now.

Now, reports coming from Italy have suggested that one summer arrival is already being eyed up with a move elsewhere next summer.

Joshua Zirkzee wanted by multiple Serie A sides

One United summer addition to struggle so far is Joshua Zirkzee, as he has only managed to score one goal after having played 10 games after his summer move from Bologna.

Zirkzee put in his worst performance yet against Villa as he completed just three passes in his cameo performance.

Coincidentally after this, there has now been talk in Italian press of a potential exit for Zirkzee should his struggles in the Premier League continue.

It comes according to a report from Calcio Mercato, Zirkzee is already the subject of interest from several top Italian clubs.

It is reported that within a few months, it will become clear whether his move to United will ultimately be a success or not.

In the event, he is struggling and perhaps is not getting enough minutes, then it is suggested a return to Serie A would be possible.

Roma, AC Milan and Juventus are all said to hold an interest and would jump at the chance to sign Serie A’s young player of the year from last season.

If this happens, Zirkzee would be following in Romelu Lukaku’s footsteps by ditching England for Italy.

Zirkzee has new competition at Manchester United

Paul Scholes already made his opinion on Zirkzee crystal clear and he was vocal about this even before the season started.

Now after getting just one goal from 3.08 expected goals in the Premier League this campaign so far, it seems the United legend was spot on.

For Zirkzee, the goals must start flowing otherwise an exit cannot be ruled out – as much as we would love him to be a success.

With Gabriele Biancheri starring for the academy this season and the new arrival of Chido Obi-Martin, Zirkzee will have some real competition for minutes emerging over the next few years.
