Manchester United have secured a third attacking signing of the summer after confirming the arrival of striker Benjamin Sesko.
Ruben Amorim wanted to see more goals from his Manchester United side this season, and Ineos have certainly backed him in the final third.
Matheus Cunha joined United early in the summer window before Bryan Mbeumo’s protracted move from Brentford was finalised.
Amorim wasn’t finished there, though, with United now confirming the signing of Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.
Sesko arrives as United’s new first-choice striker, with the Slovenian penning a five-year deal at Old Trafford.
United are paying £66million, potentially rising to £74million for Sesko, representing another major attacking investment this summer.

United In Focus writer verdict on Benjamin Sesko transfer
Dan Coombs: The debate over Ollie Watkins and Benjamin Sesko was genuinely a fascinating one. There were really strong arguments for Watkins, who would probably make more of an impact immediately. But once Aston Villa start asking for fees in the £60 million range, it no longer makes sense.
Take the player with the higher upside long-term, which is clearly Sesko. United are not battling for the title this year; this isn’t a ‘win now’ team. The reasoning behind signing a young, potentially elite-level striker is smart, and with high-quality players around him, Sesko might even prove me wrong and make an immediate impact.
Jonny Maze: I am in two minds over whether Sesko will be a success for Manchester United or not, having been stung by signing big-money high-potential players in the past. However, the more I watch of Sesko and the more I learn about his qualities, he really does look like the ideal fit on paper for Amorim’s number nine.
I think he will benefit massively from the attacking quality around him and he will immediately be a clear upgrade for United. The upcoming campaign won’t be him at his ultimate level but 15 goals would be an excellent platform for him to build upon.
Olly Dawes: Sesko has all the promise in the world, and if he gets even close to maximising his potential, then United have struck gold.
The Slovenian has proven more at this stage in his career than Rasmus Hojlund had before his 2023 move to United, but there are similar concerns in terms of a young, athletic forward who needs to develop, but is now being asked to lead the line for United. There may be some bumps in the road early on, but Sesko looks to be an exciting addition for the future of United’s attack.
Sean Fisher: He wasn’t the top striker target heading into the summer, but in Sesko, Manchester United have signed one of the most exciting striker prospects in Europe. Sesko appears to suit the Premier League physically, and his aerial threat should bring out the best of Cunha and Mbeumo.
There’s no denying that United have had to pay big to make this deal happen, but it gives Amorim a refreshing new attack heading into 2025/26. I’ll be bold and predict 12+ goals from him in his debut season.
Vatsal Gupta: Benjamin Sesko is a case of “once bitten, twice shy” after seeing Rasmus Hojlund’s potential vanish into thin air under the weight of the pressure at Man Utd. However, there are clear differences, and those are encouraging.
He’s exactly the profile that Amorim likes, and has much more elite football experience than Hojlund did when he arrived. With Cunha and Mbeumo, he won’t be under pressure to become the club’s saviour immediately. The potential is tantalising, and he needs to be given time and patience to reach it
