Ineos are ‘closely following’ £59m star who tore Man United apart this season

Ineos are keeping their options open when it comes to signing a new striker for Manchester United this summer.

After a frustrating 2024/25 campaign, Ineos have quickly started overhauling Manchester United’s attacking department this summer.

Matheus Cunha was signed from Wolves in a £62.5m deal on the first day of the window and now United have submitted bids for Bryan Mbeumo with the Brentford star closing in on becoming the second signing of the summer.

To complete a new-look front three, United are looking to sign a new striker and Ineos have several targets in mind.

While Ruben Amorim wants to reunite with Viktor Gyokeres, Ineos are also monitoring Porto striker Samu Aghehowa.

Man United linked with Samu Aghehowa move

This week, reports suggest Inter Milan want to sign Rasmus Hojlund this summer, which could free up funds and space in the squad for new arrivals.

If United are unable to move for Gyokeres or Victor Osimhen, another option is Aghehowa.

According to CaughtOffside, United are one of several Premier League clubs who are “closely following” Aghehowa this summer.

The report claims Porto are looking to recoup between £59-£63 million for the 21-year-old striker.

West Ham, Chelsea, Arsenal and Aston Villa are also monitoring Aghehowa ahead of a potential summer move.

Samu Aghehowa put on two-goal masterclass against Man Utd

United will be particularly familiar with Aghehowa after facing his Porto side in the Europa League this season.

Aghehowa scored twice as United drew 3-3 with Porto back in October, in what was one of Erik ten Hag’s final games as manager.

United started scouting Aghehowa in 2024 after his incredible European display, and the Red Devils have continued to keep tabs on the young Spanish striker.

Aghehowa scored a total of 25 goals across all competitions last season, finishing joint-second in the Portuguese goalscoring charts behind only Gyokeres.

At just 21 years old, Aghehowa would be a longer-term signing compared to the likes of Gyokeres and Osimhen, who are both already in their prime.
