Marcus Rashford’s future remains up in the air with one more game left to play before his Barcelona loan comes to an end.

Although Barcelona have an option to sign Marcus Rashford for £26 million at the end of the season, they have yet to formally agree a deal for the player.

The La Liga champions have until June 15 to trigger the clause that would see them sign Rashford on a permanent deal.

Rashford has scored 14 goals and registered 14 assists in all competitions for Barcelona this season. On top of winning La Liga, they were also crowned Spanish Supercopa champions.

Barcelona demanding Marcus Rashford pay cut

Rashford has never hidden his desire to remain at Barcelona.

The fact that United and Barcelona are still in talks over a deal creates uncertainty over Rashford’s future.

There are strong suggestions in Spain that Barcelona are unwilling to meet United’s valuation of the player.

According to Dario Sport, Barcelona have not yet made a decision over Rashford, but the player would have to take a significant pay cut if he wants to stay at Camp Nou.

The report claims Barcelona coach Hansi Flick pushed for Rashford’s loan when the club failed in their pursuit to sign Nico Williams last summer.

Flick is understood to be a decisive factor in any potential deal between Barcelona and United for Rashford.

Meanwhile, United’s priority is getting Rashford off the wage book completely.

Rashford was linked with a move to Real Madrid last week, which would certainly put a spanner in the works.

Marcus Rashford missed Barcelona’s final home game of the season

Rashford was unable to take part in Barcelona’s draw against Real Betis due to an injury.

That means he could have missed an opportunity to make one more appearance at Barcelona’s Camp Nou.

Rashford will be hoping to return to Barcelona after the World Cup, so long as his injury setback doesn’t prevent that from happening.

England coach Thomas Tuchel will hope that Flick doesn’t take any unnecessary risks with Rashford ahead of their final game of the season.
