Sofyan Amrabat’s arrival at Manchester United has been met by an overwhelming optimism, Rio Ferdinand shares that feeling.

After weeks of chasing, Manchester United finally managed to sign the ‘Moroccan Gattuso‘.

He arrives as the clubs seventh and final signing of the summer but arguably, is the best of the lot.

Sofyan Amrabat brings exactly what is needed at Old Trafford, with the midfield looking ragged at times this season.

The Atlas lions ace will immediately settle that midfield issue, with his mobility and tidiness on ball combined with his defensive acumen, making him the perfect defensive midfielder for this team.

Rio Ferdinand speaking on the transfer, couldn’t contain his excitement.

Ferdinand on the impact Amrabat could have at Manchester United

Speaking on his FIVE YouTube channel about the latest Red Devil to arrive at the club.

“He’s the icing on the cake,” Ferdinand said as he raved about the Moroccan’s World Cup displays.

“I watched him closely at the World Cup two or three times, even against France he was very good as well.”

Continuing he explained the qualities that Amrabat will bring to this United team.

“Defensively he will give us great cover, he’s a great person to come in for Casemiro.

“He’s a skilled number six, thats his job thats his role… when you look at Fred or McTominay that wasn’t their player id, they never had defensive nous.

“He’s an enforcer he stops other teams playing, he’s very cute in his positioning and very disciplined.”

When could Amrabat make his debut?

Amrabat was only signed in the dying moments of the window on Friday night.

Therefore, he wasn’t eligible for registration on Friday at lunchtime so he will miss out on Sunday’s fixture at the Emirates.

This means Amrabat will need to wait until after the international break before making is Manchester United debut.

This could mean he makes his bow against Brighton at Old Trafford on September 16th, or failing this, there is a huge game against Bayern Munich just four days later.
