How much Manchester United think they could get for Joshua Zirkzee if they sold him in January

Joshua Zirkzee has had a nightmare second season for Manchester United, barely featuring, and now his end is in sight.

Having had a slow but steady first campaign, in which Joshua Zirkzee had Manchester United fans sold on his talent and future, but this season has gone horribly wrong.

Ruben Amorim clearly has no intention of playing Zirkzee, with the Dutchman only playing 82 minutes of Premier League football this season, which has a January exit looking likely.

How would you rate Manchester United’s season after 11 Premier League games?

The Dutchman has not looked good in his limited minutes, and Zirkzee is unlikely to play even with Benjamin Sesko injured. It is therefore tough to see a route back for him at Old Trafford.

Joshua Zirkzee’s price tag revealed amid plenty of interest

Ahead of the January transfer window, Zirkzee has plenty of suitors in England and Italy. However, there is an acceptance that squad health will determine Zirkzee’s loan eligibility.

There is also the chance of a permanent sale, and journalist Mark Ogden has now claimed on ESPN how much United could get from selling Zirkzee.

“I mean, I’ve been told that January (signings) is unlikely; they’re saving it all for the summer.

“But there’s two things here. I mean, if you’re Man United, you get to January and you’re top six, seven, you’ve got a chance to qualify for the Champions League. It might be case you have to spend some money.

“You have to spend the money to get over that line because I mean, you mentioned Zirkzee, there as a potential outgoing, he is. United are confident that if they were to get rid of him they would get their money back or close to it from Italy.”

Manchester United should cut losses on Zirkzee to clear space for academy integration

This January is likely the best chance United have to recoup a large chunk of the £36m fee paid for Zirkzee in 2024; otherwise, his value will plummet.

Zirkzee is lacking match sharpness, which means his cameo appearances lack any quality and moments to earn further game time.

So, selling makes complete sense, freeing up a spot in the first team for academy integration.

Chido Obi, Gabriele Biancheri, and Shea Lacey are three attackers who deserve to feature in the first team, which Zirkzee’s sale would allow them to do.

This would be a win for all parties, and it looks increasingly likely to happen, specifically if he still doesn’t play during the busiest period of the season.
