Manchester United fans need some good news to close the year after the draw against Wolves, and Fabrizio Romano has provided it.
Ruben Amorim’s team missed another chance to create some gap for the Champions League spot, with a 1-1 draw against winless Wolves a brutal result.
The injuries and AFCON-enforced absences are a factor, but for Wolves to emerge from the game as the better side is just not justifiable.
Are you happy with Ineos and Sir Jim Ratcliffe?
It remains to be seen how much backing Ruben Amorim warrants if this keeps going, but for whatever it’s worth, United are about to get ‘fresh money’.

Fabrizio Romano details Man Utd’s confirmed windfall
United’s financial situation is not a secret, with the club reaching critical levels of debt and borrowings due to the Glazers’ handling of the club.
It was partly why Antoine Semenyo could not be convinced to join Old Trafford in January, as Ineos didn’t want to break their wage structure.
In such circumstances, any new windfall will be most welcome by people at Carrington, and Romano has just confirmed that some ‘fresh money’ is now a mere formality.
United fans were recently rocked by the news that Napoli’s financial issues might stop them from triggering Rasmus Hojlund’s obligation to buy, but Romano has confirmed that it’s a formality.
He said (via his YouTube channel): “Very good news for Man Utd because Napoli confirm that they believe the obligation for Rasmus Hojlund will be just a formality.
“It will happen in 2026. There were some stories about Napoli being limited in the market, not able to invest, but that’s not the case for Hojlund.
“United will have €50m from Hojlund’s deal (€44m obligation + €6m loan fee), and that is very important for news. It’s also the reason why they want to invest in 2026 because they will have fresh money from Hojlund’s deal.
“Then there’s also the Jadon Sancho situation, they hold a big sell-on clause for Mason Greenwood, and of course, the Marcus Rashford situation.
“For Manchester United, fresh money is coming.”
Man Utd need to overhaul the midfield
The deal for Hojlund being a mere formality is much needed for United because, as it stands, it’s the largest confirmed windfall for next summer.
Considering amortisation, they will even end up making a profit on FFP (Soon to be Squad Cost Ratio), which means more room to spend, with or without Europe.
You have £100m to spend on a midfielder – who are YOU buying, Elliot Anderson or Adam Wharton?
Or is there another realistic player you would sign instead? Let us know who!
Shipping off Rashford and Hojlund permanently could be the difference between United having money to buy one elite midfielder or overhauling by buying two.
Hojlund’s hot streak for Napoli means nothing to United because his value as an asset to the club is far more than it would have been as a playing member.
Ineos have solved half the problem, which is to sell well. Now they need to reinvest it smartly.
