Fabrizio Romano names the clubs Manchester United are battling for Chido Obi-Martin

Manchester United have snapped up two signings over the last week but are now pushing to add another major talent for the future.

Ineos have enjoyed a very productive seven days.

Last Sunday saw United secure a first signing of the summer window with Joshua Zirkzee completing his move from Bologna.

That was followed up by a stunning move to sign wonderkid Leny Yoro with the Lille talent completing his switch on Thursday night.

Those are two hugely exciting signings for United, especially as both players should – with the right development – have their best years ahead of them.

The deals don’t even there though with United now hoping to sign Manuel Ugarte after agreeing personal terms with the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder.

Ugarte could bolster United’s midfield ranks immediately, but one potential deal would have the long-term future in mind…

Fabrizio Romano on Chido Obi-Martin

As impressive as the deals for Zirkzee and Yoro are, there may be even more excitement around a move to sign Arsenal talent Chido Obi-Martin.

Obi-Martin is only 16 but has been making headlines with some frankly ridiculous numbers for the Arsenal Under-18’s.

32 goals in 20 Under-18 Premier League games is unbelievable and Obi-Martin racked up seven goals in a 9-0 thrashing of Norwich City in April.

The Dane is considered to be a major talent for the future and Ian Wright has been impressed with the ‘really quick’ teenager.

Reports on Friday suggested that United are now pushing to sign Obi-Martin in a stunning raid on Arsenal, having invited the teenager to Manchester.

This would be a serious coup for Ineos and is the kind of move which has fans excited for the future.

Fabrizio Romano now claims that Obi-Martin is expected to make a final decision on his next club by the end of next week.

Speaking on Playback, Romano suggested that Obi-Martin is just days away from a final decision – and United are ‘really pushing’ to secure his signature.

“There are many clubs in the race for Chido; he will make a decision in the next days… from what I’m told, by the end of next week, everything will be okay – this is the feeling I have, talking my sources, so by the end of next week, Chido will decide which club he joins,” said Romano.

“Manchester United are really pushing,” he added.

Romano on rival interest in Obi-Martin

Transfer insider Romano has also suggested that Arsenal now consider Obi-Martin to be ‘gone’ having snubbed a ‘big proposal’ to stay.

Romano also noted that a number of clubs have been trying to sign Obi-Martin – and this just makes United’s move even more exciting.

It’s stated that Premier League rivals Newcastle United have made contact over a deal, as did Monaco, Bayern Munich and Eintracht Frankfurt.

Manchester City have been ruled out by Romano but it’s clear that a host of clubs have been trying to land the striker.

Romano has also posted on social media that United want to finalise a deal for Obi-Martin ‘as soon as possible’ with a deal ‘considered imminent’.

United appear to be moving closer to a deal for Obi-Martin and fending off such strong competition would be a major boost.

It’s not often that we see United snatching wonderkids from Premier League rivals these days, hence the buzz around the Obi-Martin move.

United still have to get a deal finalised, but the noises are very encouraging as another signing moves closer.
