Fabrizio Romano makes confident Man Utd transfer claim as ‘aggressive’ £15.5m player wanted

Fabrizio Romano claims that Manchester United will focus on adding a young left back this summer.

United’s left back position has been a mess all season.

Tyrell Malacia hasn’t been seen all season due to injury and we keep seeing Luke Shaw go down with injury problems of his own.

Sergio Reguilon came in on loan but was sent packing in January whilst Alvaro Fernandez has been sent to Benfica.

United have few options at left back right now and we may see a new signing arrive in that area this summer.

Fabrizio Romano on United left back chase

Fabrizio Romano has now stated on the Here We Go podcast that United will likely be in the market for another left back.

Romano believes that some names are already on United’s list with a left back wanted alongside a centre back and a striker.

The famed transfer insider Romano specifically indicated that United will look at ‘young, talented’ left backs with an eye towards the future.

No names were specified but a long-term solution at left back now appears to be on the wish list for United.

“Yeah, they have some names in the list but this is the news, that Manchester United want to consider a new left-back in the summer transfer window because we know about the striker, this is going to be a priority.

“We know about the centre-back, it’s something they’ve been discussing since September with Erik ten Hag involved in conversations. We know that they will be busy this summer, but left-back is going to be another position to keep an eye on at Manchester United because the injury to Luke Shaw, very negative season for Tyrell Malacia in terms of injury, very unlucky season.”

“It means that Manchester United will look at new left-backs in the summer. They have already considered the possibility of Cucurella last summer before signing Reguilon. Now, they are assessing also different options, young, talented left-backs and so I think Manchester United will be active on the market for a young left-back to bring something new to the position for the future,” he added.

Milos Kerkez fits the bill

One name mentioned elsewhere is that of Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez.

Reporter Ben Jacobs claims that United are really interested in Kerkez but face competition from Chelsea.

The Hungarian only joined Bournemouth last year, completing a £15.5million move from AZ Alkmaar.

Kerkez is only 20 but has featured in 19 Premier League games this season, recording one assist.

Hailed as ‘aggressive’ and ‘powerful’ by former teammate Mat Ryan, Kerkez has a huge future ahead of him.

Kerkez certainly fits the description Romano gave, but convincing Bournemouth to sell this summer may not be an easy task.
