Manchester United’s summer plans are beginning to take shape and now a left-back has been mentioned with Milos Kerkez linked.

With this campaign so far being plagued by injuries and woes at the left back position, a new signing in this position was always going to be hoped for at Old Trafford this summer.

Tyrell Malacia has missed the entire season so far, while Luke Shaw remains seriously injury-prone which has left Manchester United struggling in the position this season.

Now, journalist Ben Jacobs – while speaking with The United Stand – has insisted that one option at left back for the Reds is Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez.

“I think in terms of left-backs, or more versatile wing backs or inverted full-backs are concerned, Milos Kerkez is going to be one to watch. Chelsea have scouted him, Manchester United really likes the player as well.”

So with yet another link to a player, here’s everything you need to know about Kerkez…

Who is Milos Kerkez?

Milos Kerkez is a Serbian-born, Hungary international, 20-year-old left-back who is currently in his first season at Bournemouth in the Premier League, making 19 appearances for far.

Signed for a whopping £15.2m during summer of 2023 from AZ Alkmaar, Kerkez is a player clearly tipped for a big future by the Cherries.

Before his time in Holland, in 2022 he was playing for AC Milan U19 who he joined from ETO FC Gyor in 2021.

His youth journey also included playing for Hódmezövásárhely FC Jugend and the Rapid Vienna youth academy.

He is a 13-time Hungary international, making his debut in September 2022 and has a career which looks really on the up right now.

Milos Kerkez profile

Milos Kerkez praised

“I think even if he is very young, he is ready to play straightaway because he has already played at a high level. He played tough European games in the past season and also his mentality to improve is very good. I think he is conscious that he has very good things, but he has to improve in other areas. We will try to help him.” – Andoni Iraola speaking on his first impressions of Kerkez.

“Milos is a great boy. A crazy dude, in a good way. He is always positive and smiling. Hopefully, he can develop even further in England and become even more mature. He is aggressive, powerful and has so many qualities. A unique skill set. Bournemouth is going to get stronger because of him. Milos still has a great career ahead of him.” – Former Arsenal goalkeeper Matt Ryan speaking with Dutch press.

Where does Milos Kerkez fit in at Manchester United?

Kerkez is an incredibly versatile full-back, capable of doing it all despite being aged so young.

He’s strong, aggressive and comfortable moving up the pitch, making him the ideal player to take the weight off Shaw and cover for his inevitable injuries that are bound to spike up.

He wouldn’t be ready to start every week, but as a backup initially he could be excellent, which could spell trouble for Malacia.

Most recently, Kerkez shone against Manchester City as Bournemouth ran the defending champions close.

As per FotMob, in this game, he completed 92 per cent of his passes and created one chance. He also made nine defensive actions and won 100 per cent of his tackles.
