Ederson latest

Speculation has been rife that Manchester United are set to strike a deal for Atalanta midfielder Ederson.

Fabrizio Romano tells his YouTube channel that enquiries are only at an exploratory stage and there is nothing advanced between the two club.s

Romano said: “The deal is not at that stage yet. The reality is Ederson is one of the names on Manchester United’s list.

“In 2025 it was not possible to proceed. Now the player is up for sale because his contract expires in 2027, and he is not going to sign a new contract.

“Manchester United are aware of that. But my understanding is yes, Manchester United are talking with his agents, they are aware of the price with Atalanta, 45 million Euros.”

Romano adds: “At the moment there are five or six midfielders under consideration.”

Rasmus Hojlund set to be sold

Manchester United are set to receive a planned cash boost from Napoli with the permanent sale of Rasmus Hojlund.

Napoli play on Monday night against Bologna and a win will seal Champions League qualification, activating their purchase clause.

Romano explains: “The obligation to buy will be activated. Manchester United are set to receive 44m Euros on top of the six million Euros they already received one year ago from Napoli for the loan.”

He also adds that Napoli will insert a release clause in Hojlund’s deal allowing him to leave for an increased price in 12 months time.

“Hojlund will have a release clause in his contract from June 2027, so not this summer, next summer, for 85 million Euros.”

It is up to Hojlund to show that he deserves such a high valuation if he wants a club to activate it in the future. He has currently been struggling for form.

As far as Manchester United are concerned, his early sale will be a welcome boost, with Napoli set to pay up by the end of June 2026.
