Fabrizio Romano claims that Man Utd star ‘would like’ transfer to one preferred destination, despite no ‘concrete’ offers

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that one Manchester United star has a preferred location in mind for their next transfer, despite the lack of “concrete” offers.

Erik ten Hag’s first-team squad at Old Trafford has seen several departures this summer, including the likes of Donny van de Beek and Mason Greenwood.

The summer clearout at Manchester United has also extended to the likes of Willy Kambwala leaving the club, with the defender signing for La Liga side Villarreal.

Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial have also left Old Trafford after their contracts expired following the end of the 2023-24 Premier League season.

Omari Forson left United and signed for Serie A side Monza on a free transfer, while left-back Alvaro Fernandez was sold to Benfica for a £5.1m fee.

Among the players sold or leaving United, Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag has seen the arrival of two new summer signings at Old Trafford so far.

Netherlands striker Joshua Zirkzee was signed from Serie A side Bologna, while Leny Yoro was snapped up from Lille amid interest from Real Madrid.

Romano drops update on Man Utd star

Manchester United are expected to continue reinforcing key positions in Erik ten Hag’s first-team squad before the summer transfer window shuts.

The Red Devils have been recently linked with Bayern Munich full-back Noussair Mazraoui, who previously played under Ten Hag at Ajax.

It was believed that United wanted Noussair Mazraoui as a way to unlock Antony’s true potential, but the Bayern Munich defender has also been linked with West Ham.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s future at Old Trafford remains uncertain and Fabrizio Romano admitted that the United right-back is keen for a move to the Serie A in Italy.

“Despite the rumours, I’m not aware of Noussair Mazraoui preferring a move to West Ham over Man United,” Romano told CaughtOffside.

“Man United still have Aaron Wan-Bissaka and they need him to leave first in order to bring in a new right-back.

“The situation whilst I’m writing is that West Ham can make a deal happen now as they have agreed terms with Bayern, but they’re still working on the player side.

“It’s also true that Wan-Bissaka would like to move to Italy but at the moment it’s not something advanced or concrete.

“An idea offered by intermediaries since April/May was a swap deal with Inter’s Denzel Dumfries, but it’s just agents trying to make a deal for two players out of contract in 2025.”

Wan-Bissaka’s situation at Man Utd

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is out of contract with United next summer and the Red Devils are prepared to offload the defender if the ‘right’ offer is made.

The 26-year-old was signed from Crystal Palace in 2019 as part of a £50m deal and became first-choice right-back under former United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

However, Wan-Bissaka was displaced from his right-back position by United teammate Diogo Dalot, who underwent a career resurgence under Erik ten Hag.

Diogo Dalot offers a more attacking-minded threat for Ten Hag over the defensive approach that former Crystal Palace star Wan-Bissaka brings to the right-back role.

Wan-Bissaka’s recent season at Old Trafford was hit with injuries and the United right-back made 30 appearances across all competitions for the club.
