Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Manchester United have a clear-cut stance on one first-team player under Erik ten Hag amid interest from a Premier League club.
Erik ten Hag’s men are currently in their pre-season campaign and the Red Devils are heading to the United States for the next leg of their tour.
Manchester United suffered a 1-0 defeat to Norwegian side Rosenborg last week before bouncing back with a 2-0 win against Rangers in Scotland on Saturday.
The Red Devils will face Arsenal on Sunday at the SoFi Stadium in California before facing Real Betis at the Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego next Thursday.
United’s final pre-season match will be against Liverpool at the Williams-Brice Stadium in South Carolina on 4th August ahead of the Community Shield.
Ten Hag has been without several first-team players during the pre-season tour after the end of the 2024 Copa America and Euro 2024 in Germany.

Romano on Man Utd transfer stance
Erik ten Hag has been able to bolster his Manchester United first-team squad this summer with the signings of striker Joshua Zirkzee and defender Leny Yoro.
The club have also offloaded players since the end of the season, including the likes of Willy Kambwala, Donny van de Beek, Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial.
United could still make new signings before the transfer window shuts, while other players could still be shown the door at Old Trafford before the summer is out.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has now opened up on the future of Scott McTominay and United’s position on the Scotland midfielder this summer.
Scott McTominay is out of contract in June 2025 and has been linked with a move to Fulham, with Romano confirming the interest from the club is “accurate.”
Romano claims that United are ready to sell the 27-year-old Scottish midfielder if they receive the ‘right’ proposal from a club.
“Fulham have also been linked with Scott McTominay and reports of their interest is accurate, though nothing is close or advanced at this stage,” he told CaughtOffside.
“For Manchester United, it’s been a very clear position since last summer: in case of a good, important proposal McTominay can leave.
“Otherwise, they would be more than happy to keep McTominay at the club.”
Ten Hag’s position on McTominay
Scott McTominay has missed the opening two matches of the United pre-season after representing Scotland on international duty at Euro 2024.
The Scotland international was in a rich vein of goalscoring form for United last season, with McTominay scoring 10 times across all competitions.
Ten Hag has been a big fan of McTominay and insisted that the United star is a “very important player” for his first-team squad.
“We have very good players so there will always be an interest from other clubs,” he said, as per The National.
“When you score 10 goals in a season and also perform very good for Scotland, then there will be an interest.
“But we want to keep him because he is a very important player for our squad.”
