Manchester United star Antony is highly unlikely to sign for one team this summer after the club’s president squashed speculation over a possible transfer.

Antony was reunited with Erik ten Hag in 2022 after Manchester United made a big-money move to sign the Brazilian from Dutch side Ajax.

The 24-year-old United winger had played under Erik ten Hag at Ajax and had high expectations placed on his shoulders after his arrival at Old Trafford.

United dropped a whopping £82m fee to sign Antony from Ajax, with the Red Devils committing to a further £4.3m in add-ons.

However, Antony has struggled with consistency during his Old Trafford run and the former Ajax star has underwhelmed with his performances.

The Brazil international’s second season at Old Trafford saw him score only three times and picking up two assists in 38 appearances across all competitions.

Antony only found the back of the net once in 29 Premier League appearances, with the Brazilian only managing 15 league starts in the 2023-24 season.

Antony ruled out of move to one club

Antony began his career at Brazilian side Sao Paulo before he linked up with Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag at Ajax in 2020.

It had been reported in recent weeks that United would be open to a love move for Antony this summer in a bid to help the player rediscover his best form.

A return to Sao Paulo has now been taken off the table, with club president Julio Casares ruling out the possibility of signing Antony this summer.

That is according to reporter Jorge Nicola, who had a conversation with Julio Casares and revealed the Sao Paulo chief’s stance on Antony.

“Talking to president Julio Casares, he assured me that there is no possibility of this deal happening,” he said, as per The Peoples Person.

“It is something completely outside of Sao Paulo’s reality.”

Antony’s agent speaks out on player’s future

According to reports, United had been keen for a club to cover Antony’s £70,000-a-week wages as part of a loan deal away from Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag has been a staunch defender of Antony and insisted that the Brazil winger can weather the storm over his tough start to life at Old Trafford.

Junior Pedroso, who is Antony’s agent, has made the United star’s position clear that he wants to remain at the Red Devils for the 2024-25 season.

“Antony’s plan is clear: Manchester United,” he said, as per The London Evening Standard.

“He wants to stay, he’s only focused on Man United. We already spoke about that with the club.”
