Ederson breaks silence on Man Utd transfer with clear message to end rumours, ‘All that’s left…’

Ederson has become a curious transfer case for Man Utd due to his late call-up to the World Cup squad for Brazil.

Initially omitted from the squad, Ederson was called up to replace an injured Wesley, and he recently made his World Cup debut against Haiti.

Man Utd will be happy that he gets to experience such a big stage, but it also threw a spanner in the works for their transfer planning.

Ederson has now broken his silence on the Man Utd move to end all speculation.

Ederson on Man Utd transfer

It’s fair to assume that Ederson would have been a Man Utd player by now had he not been called up for the World Cup this late.

United were advancing quickly, and only a medical was left to conclude before the official announcement.

Both parties put that to one side once Ederson went for the World Cup, not wanting distractions during this marquee tournament.

However, Ederson has moved to soothe the worries over a lack of official announcement by saying that the move is ‘practically done’.

He said: “It’s practically done [the move to Man Utd]. All that’s left is for me to wait, but for now, I’m here [at the World Cup], and I have to fully enjoy this moment.”

Ederson’s World Cup should prompt Man Utd action

As it stands, Michael Carrick will not have a single player through the door by the time the Man Utd squad reports for pre-season.

Ederson would have been one, but his World Cup call-up put an end to those plans.

That is not an ideal situation for Carrick entering his first full season, which should prompt Man Utd into action.

They need to sign at least one player to be with the team from the start of the pre-season, ideally a midfielder.

The World Cup does make it difficult, and the first pre-season fixture against Wrexham is effectively an academy showcase anyway, but the club can’t afford to dither.

Ederson is waiting, Man Utd fans are waiting, and Carrick is waiting. Ineos need to act.
