Fabrizio Romano has shared one all-important aspect of Roma’s bid to land Juventus and Inter Milan-linked star Jadon Sancho from Manchester United this summer.
Jadon Sancho has been on the chopping block at Old Trafford after his season-long loan spell at Chelsea came to an end after the 2024-25 Premier League campaign.
Chelsea were obligated to buy Sancho for a £25m fee at the end of his loan, but the Blues were unable to complete a permanent move for the Manchester United star.
Sancho’s permanent transfer to Chelsea collapsed this summer and the Blues opted to pay a £5m penalty clause and sent the 25-year-old winger back to Old Trafford.
The former Blues attacker’s contract at Stamford Bridge expired in June and Sancho has been waiting on the sidelines since July to complete a move away from United.
Sancho has attracted interest in Saudi Arabia and in Turkey, while Serie A clubs like Roma, Inter Milan and Juventus have all been heavily linked with the United exile.

Fabrizio Romano spotted a crucial feature in Roma’s attempt to sign Man Utd winger Jadon Sancho ahead of Juventus and Inter Milan
The Athletic on Thursday reported that Roma are keen to sign Jadon Sancho and the Serie A club have tabled a formal bid for the Manchester United outcast.
It is believed that Roma’s initial offer is worth £20m (€23.2m) and would ensure a permanent transfer away from Old Trafford for the former Borussia Dortmund ace.
According to The Athletic, the ‘bulk’ of Roma’s £20m transfer fee would be ‘fixed upfront’ and would be ‘inclusive of add-ons’ in the package for Sancho.
Fabrizio Romano has now explained that a major detail for the bid is that it is “quite easy to activate” the “easy conditions” of the obligation to buy Sancho from United.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, he said: “Jadon Sancho, official bid arrived today [Thursday] from Roma.
“Roma have offered a loan with an obligation to buy – quite easy to activate. This loan with an obligation is worth a transfer fee of £20m, so around 23m euros.
“That’s the total package between the loan fee and the full package, including the option to buy.
“The player is going to be an obligation under easy conditions, and so Sancho is open to making his move to Italy, but still waiting to understand if he is going to agree [to] personal terms with Roma or not.”
Fabrizio Romano on the stance of Roma target Jadon Sancho amid the transfer interest from Turkey for the Man Utd outcast
Romano explained that Roma-linked Sancho has ‘not opened the doors’ for Turkish sides like Besiktas and he is “giving priority” to clubs in Europe like Roma and Co.
“But for sure, Sancho is in conversations with Roma and he is quite open to that [a move to the Serie A club],” he continued.
Romano added: “Sancho [is] still not opening the door to Turkish clubs. Besiktas were interested, but never [opened] the door on Sancho’s side. Why? Because Sancho now is giving [his] priority to Europe.
“Then, if on the 1st of September, the last day of the transfer window, this Sancho story will still be open.
“In that case, from 2nd of September, with the European market closed, remember that the Turkish market is still open for some time.”
Sancho is under contract with United until 2026 and ex-Borussia Dortmund winger has only made 83 appearances for the Premier League club since his 2021 move.
