David De Gea turns down lucrative offer which would have seen him link up with ex-United star

David De Gea has reportedly snubbed a ludicrous contract offer made by Al-Nassr for his services as he remains a free agent following his release from Man United.

Erik ten Hag stuck by David De Gea throughout last season but the Dutchman decided that he wanted an upgrade on the Spaniard and Andre Onana was deemed to have been that upgrade, despite the club pushing for another keeper.

De Gea is still without a club this season following his release from Manchester United at the beginning of July but Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr have come forward.

Were he to accept, De Gea would link up with former United teammate Cristiano Ronaldo who has had a strong start to life in the Middle East.

De Gea’s verdict

Well, according to the report from The Sun, De Gea has snubbed the mega-money offer from the Pro League as they look to add more Premier League talent to the division.

According to the report, De Gea’s family is not keen on the move to the Middle East despite the eye-watering sums of money on offer for the former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper.

There remains some hope that they can talk the 33-year-old around to the idea but the deal looks unlikely at this moment in time.

Valencia, who are reportedly keen on the goalkeeper, may well struggle to formulate their interest in the Spaniard due to their financial issues. Real Betis are said to be keen, too.

De Gea’s future

It does seem bizarre that despite the pedigree that De Gea has in the game, despite his decline in form seen towards the back end of his United career, no team has taken a punt on him.

His wages may be an issue but nevertheless, some sides could do with a goalkeeper who was, and still is, one of the best when it comes to his shot-stopping abilities.

De Gea has been linked with a move to David Beckham’s Inter Miami but, as of yet, nothing has come of the American side’s interest.
