Cesc Fabregas appears to have given up hope of signing Man Utd misfit, now in talks to sign Celtic ace

Manchester United are hoping to sell Antony this summer, but one potential exit route appears to have closed.

Matheus Cunha has joined Manchester United this summer, arriving as the first piece of Ruben Amorim’s attacking rebuild.

A second addition may not be far away, with United continuing to target Bryan Mbeumo in a big move from Brentford.

United may then target a centre forward, though several attackers may need to move on first.

Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho have both been made available this summer, while Alejandro Garnacho has been told to leave United.

Antony is also likely to leave United, having impressed during a loan spell with Real Betis earlier this year.

Como appear to move on from Antony

Antony became a flop for United after his 2022 move from Ajax.

Erik ten Hag reunited with the Brazilian wide man, but he couldn’t build on an impressive start.

United allowed Antony to join Betis in January, and the move was a masterstroke, with the winger racking up nine goals and five assists in 26 games.

The spell in Andalusia was perfect for United’s hopes of selling Antony, with other suitors emerging.

Como are interested in Antony as Cesc Fabregas looks to invest in new signings after an encouraging Serie A season.

Reports in Spain suggest Antony has ruled out a move to Como, instead giving full priority to a Betis return.

Como now appear to have fully moved on, as Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio reports that talks have been opened for Celtic winger Nicolas Kuhn.

Kuhn has impressed in Scotland and plays as a left-footed winger on the right flank, just like Antony.

It’s unlikely that Como would sign both Antony and Kuhn, so Antony’s rumoured snub appears to have left Fabregas to abandon any interest in the United misfit.

Manchester United given hope of Real Betis move for Antony

Money will be the key factor here, as Real Betis aren’t exactly known as huge spenders.

United are prepared to take a hefty loss on Antony from a PSR perspective, but Betis must still come up with a fee and considerable wages.

Betis are selling Johnny Cardoso to Atletico Madrid, with that sale set to bring in around £25million before any sell-on clauses.

That sale could free up cash to sign Antony, and Betis will be emboldened by his decision to snub Como.

United would surely love to sell Antony sooner rather than later, with Betis seemingly the top choice for the former Ajax wide man.
