The departures are continuing at Old Trafford, with yet another player heading out the exit doors permanently.

This summer has seen huge waves made by Manchester United in terms of their sales, with a much needed and long overdue clear-out.

David de Gea and Phil Jones were released by the club following their contract expiring in June.

Anthony Elanga was sold to Nottingham Forest for a fee of around £15m, with Alex Telles also being sold for a fee.

Along with this various youth prospects such as Zidane Iqbal have been sold, with a high sell-on clause included.

There are also various other senior departures rumoured to be speeding up this week, but one seems on the verge of being announced.

‘Kovar joins Bayer’

Matej Kovar is one player many United fans pictured as having a future at the club following his impressive displays in pre-season.

However this won’t be the case, with reports suggesting a deal bringing the Czech keeper to the Bundesliga is done.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Kovar is set for the move to Bayer Leverkusen who will sign him for a fee of around €9m (£7.7m).

He also adds that the first part of the 23-year-old’s medical tests will take place today ahead of his move.

Is it a good deal for United

Ultimately, despite Kovar having potential, the chances of him breaking through at Old Trafford were slim to young.

At 23, he is only a few years younger than new number one Andre Onana therefore a deal makes a lot of sense.

Additional reports have suggested the deal also includes a buyback clause and also a right of first refusal for any future interest in Kovar.

This comes according to Czech outlet, Infotbal who add that the goalkeeper’s arrival at Bayer will be announced in the coming hours.
