Bojan Miovski admits he’s a Manchester United fan as 17-goal striker eyes move

Bojan Miovski admits he is a Manchester United ‘supporter’ as the prolific Aberdeen striker holds out for a dream move to the Premier League.

Rasmus Hojlund is not the only exciting young striker with a Red Devil sitting on his shoulder, whispering into his ear.

It is common knowledge that Erik ten Hag wants an elite-level number nine this summer; the lack of a consistent goalscorer (bar Marcus Rashford of course) threatening to undermine all the progress United have made under the former Ajax boss.

And while Miovski is unlikely to be at the top of any Manchester United fans’ wishlist, a tally of 17 goals in 34 games north of the border at Pittodrie should not be underestimated.

Could Manchester United make a shock move for Aberdeen striker Bojan Miovski?

Ten Hag, the Manchester Evening News reports, is casting his net far and wide in pursuit of a new centre-forward; Hojlund and Randal Kolo Muani joining Harry Kane, Victor Osimhen and Goncalo Ramos on his wishlist.

Miovski would most certainly represent a left-field addition. Ten Hag’s remarkable record when it comes to helping talented young players realise their potential, however, makes you wonder just how much he could coax out of a man rapidly outgrowing the Scottish top-flight.

“Every player’s goal is to reach the highest level in football,” the North Macedonia international tells PopUp. “And the English Premier League attracts me. It is the most attractive and watched league in the world.

“I am a huge fan of Real Madrid. But from the English clubs, I follow and support Manchester United.

“My goal is to continue in a club from the best five leagues in Europe. If I could choose one, it would definitely be the English Premier League.”

‘A top, top player’

Miovski, the Scottish Sun report, is a summer target for Southampton. The Saints also handed fellow Premiership exports Virgil van Dijk and Victor Wanyama their big breaks south of the border.

An ‘intermediate step’, at a side like the Saints, perhaps represents Miovski’s best chance of securing a dream move to a club of Manchester United’s stature, presuming he can take his Premiership form into the Premier League.

“He backs himself,” former Aberdeen coach Jim Goodwin said last year (Aberdeen Live). “He has big self belief and has confidence in his own ability.

“He’s a guy that has come from Eastern Europe; a new culture, language barriers, different style of football. For him to settle in as quickly as he has is a great credit to him.

“He is a top, top player.”
