Bayern Munich to rival Manchester United for French defender Axel Disasi

Manchester United face a threat from Bayern Munich over the signature of Monaco centre-back Axel Disasi.

French outlet RMC Sport report Bayern have spent ‘several weeks’ gathering information about the defender.

The Mail reported last week that Manchester United have held initial talks with Monaco over a summer move for Disasi.

The centre-back was part of the France squad at the World Cup, and featured as a substitute in the World Cup final.

Both clubs have a French centre-back already

Axel Disasi is in a fortunate position if he has a choice between two giants of European football, Bayern Munich and Manchester United.

Bayern admittedly can provide more stability than United; at least that is how it has appeared in recent times, however, Erik ten Hag is looking to change all that.

Disasi will be tempted by teaming up with France teammates in central defence at both clubs. At Bayern he could link up with Dayot Upamecano, potentially forging an international partnership of the future.

United meanwhile can offer him the opportunity to link up with Les Bleus legend Raphael Varane, and this could be tempting.

Disasi may even fancy the challenge of becoming Varane’s successor, for club and country.

This is a deal for the summer where United are concerned, with a lack of funds right now to pursue a move.

RMC Sport report Monaco want 50 million Euros (£44.5 million) to do a deal. Bayern also will wait until summer, but they tend to move very early in transfer windows for the deals they want.

If United leave this until June to follow up, there is a risk they will already be too late.
