Bayern Munich consider Marcus Rashford transfer after missing out on fellow England star

Bayern Munich are set to target Marcus Rashford as they step up their search for a versatile winger capable of playing multiple roles across the attack.

Barcelona are not signing Marcus Rashford, despite having a £26m buy option in place with Manchester United.

Rashford spent the past season on loan at Barcelona, winning the La Liga title and registering 28 goal contributions across all competitions.

That wasn’t enough to convince Barcelona to keep the 28-year-old, although it is understood that they wanted another loan deal for the England international. United’s preference is to sell Rashford on a permanent deal, as that would remove him completely from the wage bill.

Marcus Rashford emerges on Bayern Munich’s radar

There is no denying that Rashford will be disappointed that he won’t be signing a permanent deal with Barcelona this summer.

A strong 2026 World Cup campaign may help boost Rashford’s valuation over the summer, leading to the question: Who else wants him?

According to the Manchester Evening News, Bayern Munich are seriously considering making a move for Rashford.

The Bundesliga champions wanted to sign Anthony Gordon, who joined Barcelona, and they’ve allowed Nicolas Jackson to return to Chelsea.

It is understood that Bayern Munich want cover on the left wing and a back-up option for Harry Kane. That is two roles Rashford could fulfil if an agreement can be reached with the three parties involved.

The report also claims that Rashford is likely to attract interest from the Premier League.

Marcus Rashford blindsided by Barcelona’s decision

The Manchester Evening News also states that Rashford was left blindsided by Barcelona’s decision to spend £70 million on Gordon.

Rashford has made it crystal clear throughout the past season that he wants to stay at Camp Nou.

That now looks very unlikely unless United can be convinced to send Rashford out on loan for a third time – similarly to Jadon Sancho before his departure as a free agent was announced this week.

Only time will tell if Rashford can get over the Barcelona disappointment by letting his feet do the talking at the upcoming World Cup.
