Manchester United could bring in some cash over the summer with Luton Town defender Teden Mengi now being eyed by Bayer Leverkusen.
United head to Kenilworth Road this afternoon, taking on Luton Town in a tricky Premier League clash.
Even five years ago, it would have been crazy to predict a Luton Town v Manchester United game in the Premier League, but here we are.
United could run into a couple of old faces with midfielder Tahith Chong potentially in line to feature for the Hatters.
Then there is defender Teden Mengi, who has been impressing so much this season that he is now attracting major interest…
Teden Mengi interest
The Mirror now report that Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen are keeping close tabs on Mengi ahead of a possible move.
Leverkusen already have two former United talents on Matej Kovar and Timothy Fosu-Mensah but could now look at landing Mengi too.
The 21-year-old hails from Manchester and joined United at the age of just seven, spending 14 years in the Old Trafford ranks.
Mengi only ever made two first-team appearances though and injuries seriously held him back amid loan spells at Derby County and Birmingham City.
United let Mengi leave in August, selling him for an undisclosed fee as Luton seemingly saw potential in the defender.
Mengi is now excelling in the Premier League and Leverkusen scout Matthew Green is understood to have shown an interest.
Green wanted to watch Mengi in action against Sheffield United in person but the former United talent ended up being an unused substitute.
Luton boss Rob Edwards has hailed Mengi as a ‘revelation’ this season and there is already interest from Crystal Palace and Fulham.

United’s Mengi sell-on clause
The Mirror highlight that United placed a ‘significant’ sell-on clause into Mengi’s move to Luton.
That means any move to Leverkusen – or anywhere else for that matter – would leave United quids in and claiming a percentage of any fee.
Mengi will be desperate to shine against United today and attempt to prove the club wrong for letting him go.
It does also benefit United if Mengi continues to shine though, ramping up the chances of a big summer move and a potential cash windfall.
