Amar Dedic responds to Manchester United interest but plays down summer move

Amar Dedic admits he is flattered by reported interest from Premier League giants Manchester United but is refusing to get carried away just yet ahead of a hectic end to the season at Red Bull Salzburg.

According to Fabrizio Romano, talks between United and Bayer Leverkusen’s one-time City slicker Jeremie Frimpong got underway recently; Erik ten Hag seemingly looking to add one of Europe’s fastest, most attack-minded right-backs in the game to his Old Trafford roster.

But if Frimpong is the number one choice, Dedic is perhaps something of an affordable alternative.

The Austria-born Bosnia international has been scouted by Manchester United, via 90Min, and could soon become the latest graduate from Red Bull Salzburg’s feted finishing school.

Dedic is not quite as complete or as effective as Frimpong. But he still has a five goals or assists at club level this term, while opening his international account with a ‘phenomenal’ effort back in March.

Manchester United like Red Bull Salzburg’s Amar Dedic

Dedic, when quizzed about his future, admitted he was flattered to catch the eye of the likes of Man United, Arsenal and La Liga leaders Barcelona. Though neither does he sound like a man packing his bags and heading for the airport.

“This rumour doesn’t do anything to me. It’s nice to read, but my focus is on it totally on Salzburg,” Dedic says in quotes reported by Laola1. “It wouldn’t be good if I thought about it too much. I want to play here and win titles. That’s clear.”

Red Bull Salzburg are seven points clear of Sturm Graz at the top of he Austrian Bundesliga table. Dedic, then, looks certain to mark his breakthrough season in first-team football with a league winners medal.

In addition to Dedic and Frimpong, United also like Bayern Munich’s Benjamin Pavard (The Athletic). Monaco’s Axel Disasi is another option; the versatile Frenchman capable of playing both in the centre and on the right-hand side.
