Manchester United appear to be closing in on Altay Bayindir with the goalkeeper expected to travel to England very soon.

United are back in the market for another goalkeeper just weeks after signing Andre Onana from Inter.

Dean Henderson seems primed to leave Old Trafford with Crystal Palace now in talks over a deal for the United stopper.

If Henderson leaves United before next week’s transfer deadline then a replacement will of course be needed.

Tom Heaton seemingly isn’t viewed as a second-choice goalkeeper and United are dipping back into the market.

Manchester United close in on Altay Bayindir

Reports from The Athletic on Tuesday suggested that United were running pre-medical checks on Fenerbahce goalkeeper Altay Bayindir.

The Turkish media now have an update, with Haber Turk reporting that Bayindir has returned to Turkey having passed those medical checks.

The expectation is that Bayindir will soon travel to England in order to finalise his move to United.

It’s added that Bayindir has found an agreement on personal terms with United and that his time at Fenerbahce is ‘officially over’.

Fenerbahce have agreed to sign a new goalkeeper in Croatian star Dominik Livakovic, seemingly paving the way for United’s move.

United will be paying around €7million (£6million), which is a little more than The Athletic suggested but the difference may be in add-ons.

Who is United-bound Bayindir?

Bayindir started out in the Bursaspor ranks before ending up with Ankaragucu as a teenager.

The giant 6ft 6in stopper only played 31 times for Ankaragucu before being snapped up by Fenerbahce in 2019.

Bayindir has become their clear first-choice stopper, racking up nearly 150 appearances for the Turkish giants.

Now 25, Bayindir has earned five caps for Turkey and may hope that heading to the Premier League can enhance his reputation.

Bayindir has been hailed as a ‘special player’ by Fenerbahce president Ali Koc but the time has come for him to move on.

Bayindir will arrive as second choice at Old Trafford and will be in line to become the first Turkish player to feature for United in the Premier League.
