£50 million a year offer on table for Man United star, likely to leave club in the summer

Manchester United defender Raphael Varane is attracting interest from Saudi Pro League sides this summer with Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr believed to be one of them.

Raphael Varane’s future at Manchester United has looked uncertain in recent months with Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern Munich previously declaring their interest in the defender.

During the summer, the Frenchman was heavily linked with a move to the mega-rich Saudi Pro League but decided to remain at Old Trafford for the season but it looks as if the former Real Madrid defender’s future is yet again up in the air.

A summer clearout is looking likely with Ineos and Erik ten Hag keen on rebuilding their defensive options.

Varane interest

According to a report from the Daily Star, Saudi side Al-Nassr are interested in the Frenchman and are ready to offer the defender a staggering salary of £50 million a season.

The report also states that, unlike last season, the Frenchman is looking likely to depart Old Trafford in the summer which would bring to an end a rather mixed three seasons in the North West of England.

United rejected the option to trigger an extension in his contract with the club and it seems like the Red Devils are keen to get him off the wage bill.

Varane is free to join any club he chooses and it seems a move to the Middle East to potentially line up alongside Cristiano Ronaldo once again is looking like the most likely scenario.

Varane’s time in England coming to an end

The Frenchman decided to leave Real Madrid in the summer of 2021 and move to United under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for £34 million and he has been a good signing.

Despite the struggles in his first season at the club, he was immense for the Red Devils in the previous campaign as the partnership he formed with Lisandro Martinez meant United won their first trophy since 2017.

This campaign has been a struggle for the Frenchman with Harry Maguire starting over the defender in the recent 3-0 victory over West Ham United at Old Trafford.

A move away from the club in the summer may well be best for all parties.
