Manchester United are in the market for a new left-back or left winger and one top target is being offered a new contract to try and keep him at his current club.
Michael Carrick made it clear earlier this season that Manchester United are in the market for a new left winger to bolster the squad for 2026/27.
United are back in the Champions League, so squad depth is needed to compete on four different fronts.
Matheus Cunha and Patrick Dorgu have rotated as the left wing options this season, but United have shown interest in Maxi Araujo of Sporting Lisbon ahead of the summer.

Maxi Araujo has new contract offer
Araujo has been subject of transfer interest from not only United, but also Premier League rivals Chelsea and Arsenal.
However, Portuguese outlet A Bola report that Araujo has been offered a new contract by Sporting Lisbon.
Sporting are unwilling to let the 26-year-old leave this summer. Previous reports suggest Araujo could cost up to £43 million this summer.
But there is an €80 million release clause in Araujo’s contract, but Sporting are keen to offer him a new deal with a pay rise.

Man United must choose between left-back or left winger
United need extra depth at both left-back and left winger this summer. Araujo has played in both positions this season, which would have made him a brilliant, versatile signing.
But it seems United’s recruitment staff will have to decide between signing either a left-back or left winger this summer.

United have been linked to Lewis Hall and Myles Lewis-Skelly as left-back options, while links to Rafael Leao could solidify if Ineos prefer a winger.
The decision could hinge on where Michael Carrick sees Dorgu playing next season.
