Reports from Madrid are claiming that Kylian Mbappe is interested in a potential move Manchester United switch with club’s prospective Qatari owners ‘studying’ the opportunity to bring the PSG star to the Premier League.
With confidence seemingly increasingly in Sheikh Jassim’s camp that he will be ultimately successful in his bid to bring a long and overdue end to the Glazers’ long reign of mediocrity, we should probably be preparing ourself for an avalanche of Kylian Mbappe-themed headlines (talkSPORT).
At least, given that these claims come from sources in the French capital, there is at reason not to merely dismiss them as heresay and speculation.
El Pais, the Madrid-based publication, report that – when a potential move to Manchester United was put to him by the Red Devils’ prospective Qatari owners – Mbappe responded by indicating that such an opportunity was ‘interesting to him’.
The Sheikh Jassim-led group have also reportedly ‘informed’ Mbappe that they want him to lead their Old Trafford revolution.

Kylian Mbappe to Man United links begin
Such links make sense, of course.
Mbappe has spent the last six years spearheading a PSG side owned by the Qatar Investment Fund.
And while PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has played down suggestions that he has played a role in Man United’s ongoing takeover talks – The Athletic report that the Glazers got in touch with him in order to squeeze an improved bid out of Jassim – the connections between two Qatari billionaires would potentially lead to a closer working relationship between two of Europe’s most high-profile clubs.
Mbappe, it must be said, is at pains to point out that he remains committed to PSG for the immediate – if not long-term – future.
In an official statement released on Monday, the World Cup finalist made it clear that he would not be triggering the extension clause in his contract, with his current deal expiring in 2024.
However, PSG may look to cash in on Mbappe now – ESPN believe that a bid of £128 million could do the trick – rather than lose arguably the finest footballer on planet earth for nothing a year down the line.
‘The childhood dream is Real Madrid’
“We know that Real Madrid will be there for sure,” Fabrizio Romano explains via his YouTube channel. “Kylian Mbappe already apologised to (president) Florentino Perez one year ago when he signed a new deal at PSG. It was a shock for Real Madrid but Kylian Mbappe called Perez and apologised for what happened.
“The situation is really clear between Florentino and Mbappe. But Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, the relationship is not good at all. Let’s see the negotiations for this summer because Real Madrid. The original plan was to attack the Mbappe situation in summer 2024.”
As for Man United’s chances, Romano said: “Let’s see what happens if there are new owners. We know the club is up for sale. The takeover story is still on and let’s follow the story and see what will happen.
“We can’t predict the future so we have to see with Manchester United. But the reality is that Real Madrid have been working on this for a long time. We know the childhood dream of Kylian Mbappe is Real Madrid and this has never changed.”
Mbappe scored 41 goals in 43 games for PSG in 2022/23. He is already the club’s all-time record goalscorer.
