£30m Manchester United player now offered to Juventus as agents seek January transfer, he has history with Ruben Amorim

Manchester United are set to begin the Ruben Amorim era and everybody at Old Trafford will be looking to make a positive impression.

Ruben Amorim was appointed as Manchester United’s new head coach earlier this month but has only arrived at Carrington this week.

The Portuguese coach agreed to join from Sporting but stayed with the Lisbon side until the international break.

Amorim has now arrived in Manchester this week and is ready to get down to work ahead of facing Ipswich Town.

The international break means a number of United players are away with their countries right now, but everybody should be keen to impress the new boss.

Manchester United defender offered to Juventus

Amorim was devoted to a 3-4-3 approach at Sporting and may be tempted to bring that formation to United as well.

That means United’s centre backs will be desperate to step up and prove that they should be one of the three starting defenders.

Victor Lindelof will be one of those defenders given that he has yet to start a Premier League game this season.

The Swede has made four substitute appearances in the Premier League, totalling 58 minutes of action.

Lindelof is out of contract this summer and looks likely to leave Old Trafford at the end of the season.

Italian newspaper Tuttosport now claim that Lindelof has been put forward as a potential signing for Juventus.

Juve need a new centre back in January and Lindelof has emerged as an option with his United deal running down.

It’s noted that Lindelof’s representatives, the HCM Sports Management agency, have strong ties to Juve and their sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli.

HCM client Denis Zakaria was sold by Juve to Monaco over the summer and they appear to have a strong connection.

Juve may now chase a bargain deal for Lindelof but may face competition from Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Reports from Italy claim that AC Milan want to sign Lindelof ‘at all costs’ with Ibrahimovic – Lindelof’s former teammate – keen on a reunion.

Lindelof has ties to Ruben Amorim

United may be willing to cash in on Lindelof before he leaves for nothing in the summer.

That would make sense but it’s worth remembering that Lindelof does have a connection to new boss Amorim.

Lindelof was breaking through as Benfica star towards the end of Amorim’s playing days with the Lisbon giants.

The pair played three times together at Benfica before Lindelof joined United £30million rising to £39.5million.

Perhaps that will keep Lindelof in the plans at least until the end of the season, but the chance for a move to Turin will surely appeal to the defender.
