Since Ruben Amorim arrived at Manchester United, the performances of Andre Onana have been disastrous in goal.

Before the Portuguese head coach arrived, Andre Onana led the Premier League for clean sheets and was Erik ten Hag’s saving grace.

However, in recent weeks, all of this form has gone out the window for Onana at Manchester United as he has made huge errors week after week.

Some, have pointed to this being the effect of United changing goalkeeping coach. However, for Ruben Amorim, these issues will be far more concerning as they aren’t coached traits which Onana is getting wrong regularly.

Due to the Cameroonian’s struggles, along with Altay Bayindir looking equally as bad, United have been linked with John Victor of Botafogo.

Now, another goalkeeping option has been linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Senne Lammens is a target for Manchester United

So with such concerning performances from Onana and Bayindir in recent weeks, it seems as though Ineos have begun searching for a new option in the ranks.

Names like Sunderland’s Anthony Patterson have been mentioned bizarrely. But now, United are looking in Belgium.

According to a report from The Telegraph, it is Royal Antwerp shot-stopper Senne Lammens who is now being looked at.

United are said to be assessing long-term options in the position, with the club’s hand being forced into the idea due to terrible recent performances.

Lammens is just 22 and has already won two Belgian leagues and three Belgian Super Cups, leading Antwerp to be expected to want around £20m.

This season in 20 appearances, Lammens has kept five clean sheets and conceded 21 goals – which is impressive when considering he has an 80 per cent save rate (93rd percentile) and prevented 5.58 goals (82nd percentile).

Lammens could also offer an aerial threat in the attacking box, as he scored a header in the UEFA Youth League in 2020 against Real Madrid.

Lammens is a penalty expert putting Andre Onana to shame

While not blowing the world away just yet as a goalkeeper, this 6ft 3in Belgian is leading the Belgian Pro League in one impressive area.

Lammens has faced three penalties this season for Antwerp and impressively kept all three out giving him a 100 per cent penalty save rate.

Comparing this with Onana’s and Lammens puts him to shame despite United’s No.24 having a decent save rate of 60 per cent.

Onana has kept out three of five, but a 100 per cent is truly remarkable and bests any of Lammens’ peers in Belgium.
