Sir Alex Ferguson showed that he meant business after he was asked about him offloading one Manchester United legend before a key reunion between the pair.

The 83-year-old legendary former Manchester United manager was no stranger to finding himself in controversy over his handling of players during his incredible reign.

When Sir Alex Ferguson wasn’t dropping his infamous ‘hairdryer treatment’ on United players, the iconic Scot pulled no punches when it came to selling talent.

The former Aberdeen manager ensured that his authority at Old Trafford remained untouched and Ferguson was not afraid of wielding the axe on different players.

The likes of Roy Keane, Jaap Stam and Sir David Beckham were all beloved figures for United fans, despite all experiencing the chopping block first-hand at the club.

Ferguson, who retired from football in 2013 after his remarkable 26-year managerial spell at United, proved his unwavering position again with one Red Devils legend.

What Sir Alex Ferguson said about Sir David Beckham spoke volumes about the legendary former Man Utd manager

Sir Alex Ferguson crossed paths with Sir David Beckham again when the Manchester United legend signed for Serie A outfit AC Milan on loan for a second time.

Beckham was at MLS outfit LA Galaxy when he returned to AC Milan in January 2010 and the Italian side would meet United in the round of 16 in the Champions League.

The former England captain played against United in the first-leg tie in February 2010 at the San Siro and the 10-man Red Devils defeated Milan 3-2 on the night.

United took their aggregate advantage into the second-leg last-16 clash in March 2010, which marked the spine-tingling return of Beckham at Old Trafford.

Speaking ahead of the first-leg Champions League clash in Italy, Ferguson showed his ruthless position by insisting that he did not regret selling Beckham in 2003.

“No regrets. We move on,” he told Inside United magazine at the time, as per The Guardian in 2010.

“The only difference with David’s return to Manchester United compared with other players is that there will be a big media circus surrounding him when Milan arrive.”

Sir Alex Ferguson showed his elite mentality vs AC Milan amid the buzz around Sir David Beckham encountering Man Utd

Beckham started the 3-2 defeat to United and the 50-year-old former Red Devils winger was subbed off in the second half for Milan legend Clarence Seedorf.

The Red Devils legend had shot to superstardom during his prolific Old Trafford playing spell after rising through the United youth academy in the 1990s.

Ferguson showed that he was unfazed by his encounter with former England star Beckham in 2010 after he labelled the noise around the reunion a “media circus.”

“He is such a high-profile celebrity – not just a high-profile footballer – and we haven’t really seen anybody else return to the club in that situation,” he added.

“But our job is to concentrate on the football match and let the David Beckham media circus carry on – we know we’re not going to stop it anyway.”

One of the famed ‘Class of ‘92’ success stories at United, Beckham was sold to Real Madrid after his relationship with iconic former manager Ferguson fractured.
